Update pt.2 7/10/14

Its been a long few years. When I started taking photos I was a freshman in high school. I remember randomly coming across Annie Leibovitz and I was blown away by her work. I never really planned on making a career out of it, I just thought it would be fun to take pictures of people. A lot of people find their main source of inspiration in people successful in a field and of course thats what sparked my interest at first. In my early years taking photos, I often went out on small adventures, usually to Hoover Dam (Westerville OH) with my friends Jake and Gant. We would just kind of wander around and take pictures of whatever caught our eye. It wasn't until I went on a cruise with my family in the summer after my junior year, that I got my first DSLR. Once I had my first "real" camera, the flood gates kind of opened. I was shooting everyday, I was constantly learning, and i still am. I think that the reason I love photography so much is that I don't think I will ever be done learning. After I graduated high school, I set my focus on the music industry. After years of shooting touring bands, I started to notice that this wasn't a sustainable route for me to take. I tried to turn my focus on more family relevant work. However, I was sucked back in with the allure of working for a clothing company. In the winter of 2010 I started working with Arkaik Clothing. Arkaik, at the time was a small brand. I was working out of my own studio in Tempe, AZ and as our partnership grew, Jordan Abidor and Arkaik moved in and split the space with me. For a while, things were great, we were both building our brands together and the results were mind blowing. After a year of working with each other, Jordan and I had falling out that ended our partnership. It was a messy split and it threw a lot of things out of focus. The whole situation put a bad taste in my mouth about photography. Shortly afterwards, I decided to call it quits. For 2 years I resented photography and all of the misfortune I found in it. After taking two years off I started remembering why started in the first place, why I enjoyed photography, and what it was like before all of the corruption of the music industry. Encouraged by the motivations I had when I first started, I decided to start again. This time is different, this time I am not doing this for the same kinds of people that made me hate it. This time I am back to live through my passion and to enjoy the company of positive people around me. Ever since my return I have had nothing but good feedback, both from my friends, as well as clients. I love what I do. The next step that I am taking in my journey is pursuing a Masters Degree in teaching from Northern Arizona University. I want to purse a career in teaching photography and art business at the collegiate level. I am excited for my future and I am excited to work with all the people I meet along the way
